Hover Kitten

Morning, ladies! For those in the US (and celebrating elsewhere) I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! Did everyone survive Black Friday in good shape?

Hover kitty is once again waiting to examine your UI. Anyone need a "cat scan" this morning? =) Anyone spend part of their holiday reworking their UI? Or cursing it because it wouldn't behave?

UIs. Mods. Questions. Comments. Screenshots. Here. You know how it goes. =)

Whoops, tried leaving a comment earlier but LJ borked.

I was wondering if anyone knew of an addon that would let me know when Predatory Swiftness has procced for my feral druids. There is an addon called Myalert which seems perfect but it has not been updated recently, so I am reluctant to use it.

Thanks for any help!

You can set up any of the other alert addons (PowerAuras is only fan supported now I think, but I'm pretty sure WeakAuras works) to set visual and audio alerts for abilities.

Thanks! I wasn't even sure what the category of addon was called- "alert" addons, okay.

Weak Auras will allow you to put an alert with Predatory Swiftness procs - I think it's a bit more user-friendly than Power Auras, and, as penginsane says, Power Auras is only fan supported now.

Here is the link to curse:

I set mine to flash alerts when buffs fall off and keep track of timers. :)

Thank you! It's kind of weird I've gone this long in game without making use of these.

Enjoy! (Though they do sort of get like a NASA control with all the beeps and boops you can put in - but it does make watching buffs SO MUCH easier, especially if you play a dot-based class. Before Warcraft had its own *BING!* alerts for procs, I'm not sure I could have played without Power Auras...)

I should have taken advantage of the Black Friday sales to get a SSD, but apparently I'm too lazy (instead, I've spent a ridiculous amount during the Steam Sale, sigh). I can't bring myself to NOT run a million addons, but of course load times can be a pain. I know "Cyber Monday" sales are still going on, but I can't bring myself to buy a SSD with the holidays around the corner. -_-

This is my mess of a current UI:

Current UI still.

I want to make changes, but every time I sit down to make them, I just get frustrated. I used to love redoing my UI once a month, but now I sit and look at it and go "ugh, fuck it." I used to browse UIs all the time to get inspiration, but everyone uses TukUI edits of some sort or another kind of "all in one" layout, which I hate, so it's hard to pull elements I like out of different UIs and blend them into my own.

Are you me? I've been wanting to redo my ui but I sit down and do the same thing. I have no problem with TukUi but I prefer to make my own. I've gone through old screenshots of my old UIs and think I'll go back to that but then can't figure out how I did it in the first place. I have one with this gorgeous color in it but I cannot for the life of me remember how I did it.

I'm with you on the TukUI edits. I mean, sure, they're nice looking and all - but they all seem the same. It's very disheartening.

I think that's my main gripe. Addons were the thing that attracted me to WoW in the first place (and what drove me away from RIFT because the lack of at the beginning), I love being able to exercise my creativity by creating a unique UI. I loved looking at everyone else's UIs and then the whole "oh that, I LOVE that" and then digging around in code to combine it into my frankenstien UI. But now people are leading towards .lua based edits which I don't mind, but it's hard to pull simple elements out of something when it's lumped into an all-in-one.

UIs are now what specs used to be - cookie cutter and roughly the same. :(

Black Friday was awesome. Got a down comforter for the winter for fifty bucks and a really nice pair of gloves and a couple outfits. Also got gifts for all my cousins for Christmas and some other family members. Worth the lines.

What's the recommended UI for raiding. I recently started and I feel like my default UI definitely isn't optimized for it. I tried ElvUI after I heard it recommended but found it a bit confusing. I need something with a good instruction guide as to how to use the features.

There's a set of Youtube videos for setting up ElvUI. I just switched to it about a month ago and am loving it, one user inparticular whose tutorials I found helpful was Bellgarath? Not sure if that's how he spelled it or not but, it's an easy name to pick out.

Anyway he did a series of five videos on how to set up EvlUI. I watched them before installing it, then after I installed it I was able to set it up or at least understood the parts because of the vids

hey, can someone recommend a good font replacing addon that's still being updated?

Just had a look cause I've been meaning to get this myself, but can't find any that are still updated. :/

booo. :c

thanks anyway! i guess i'll ask down at the blizz addon/macro forum, maybe one of them will have one

What fonts do you want to replace?

You can use a mod to change in game fonts. Or you can replace the original game fonts with the fonts you want to use. Create the following folder:
Create copies of the font file of your choice, place them in the above folder, and rename them to the following names:
FRIZQT__.ttf (the main UI font - NPC names, player names, spell names, item names, buffs, quest log text, combat text, button text)
ARIALN.ttf (chat font, info text, small text)
skurri.ttf (default unit frame combat text)
MORPHEUS.ttf (mail text, quest log header text)
FRIENDS.ttf (friends list text)

thank you! that's really helpful. :D i'm going to try that tomorrow.

Technical question: Any ideas of why my screen goes "DEERRRRRP" sometimes (a lot of sometimes) when I switch zones? It just freezes up like I'm DC-ing but I don't - it just chugs like that for aaaaaages and then it's like it didn't happen.

Otherwise I'm pretty happy with my current UI, atleast for the time being. Well, aside from my constant search for an unobtrusive micro bar and wanting an addon that does what Need To Know and Quartz do in terms of monitoring buffs/DoTs in an easy-to-setup and pretty-looking fashion.

That's when you're going to/from a cross realm zone and it has to think about where you are. Drives me CRAZY.

And here I thought nothing could make me hate CRZ more than I already do, silly me! >_<
